Omoyele Sowore, a human rights activist, said the people who chanted “Emilokan” (it’s my turn) to support President Tinubu during the 2023 elections are now experiencing the hardships they supported.
On Thursday, Omoyele Sowore spoke to reporters after the Federal High Court in Abuja dismissed the trumped up treason charge against him for leading a revolutionary protest in 2019. The government abruptly dropped the case on Friday, and the judge struck it from the record.
Sowore, a 2019 and 2023 presidential candidate for the African Action Congress (AAC), noted that as he had predicted, the people of Nigeria would join him in demanding revolution as the cost of living became too high for the average person to afford. He blamed the Tinubu administration’s policies for the current situation, saying they were “disastrous” and causing widespread hardship. He called on the people to continue to fight for change and hold the government accountable.
He said, “The good news is that the revolution they are running from is getting closer. As I’ve always said, when the revolution wants to happen, a lot of events will happen. But the last trigger is always hunger. And the people of Nigeria are very hungry this time, Yeah, The hungry man is a revolutionary. So Nigerians have been taken for granted. They have been battered. People have been destroyed, businesses are leaving the country once again. People cannot afford to feed anymore, even if they want.
“Insecurity everywhere, kidnapping in every corner. And the currency of the country. We also warn in this court when people were saying that Buhari has left that “Emilokan” would be worse than Buhari, that is Tinubu and it has also come to pass.
