Burna Boy Sent Someone To Me 3 Times, I Rejected His Advances Before My Partner And Friend Were Shot, Says Woman Whose Friends Were Shot At Club Cubana

A young woman at the centre of the brawl between security operatives attached to popular afrobeat singer, Damini Ogulu, alias Burna Boy and some fun seekers at Club Cubana on Victoria Island, Lagos, has said she is still traumatised by the incident.

SaharaReporters earlier reported that five policemen attached to Burna Boy had been detained by the Lagos police command for the attempted murder of the persons identified as Irebami Lawrence and Tolu.

The unrest started when the singer and five police escorts visited the nightclub around 4 am on June 8.

It was stated that four policemen were outside while one of the policemen, identified as Inspector Ibrahim, who was in mufti, accompanied the Grammy-Award-winning artiste into the club.

According to eyewitness accounts, Burna Boy was in the VIP section with three women when he spotted another woman among a group of fun-seekers.

He was said to have instructed Ibrahim to invite the woman to join him. However, the lady’s husband lambasted the singer for making a move on his wife.

A few minutes later, Burna Boy approached the woman and this reportedly enraged her husband further and his friends who had gathered at the club.

Angered, Ibrahim pulled a pistol and shot at two members of the group. Burna Boy was allegedly laughing while the incident occurred and immediately left for Spain.

In a post on her Instagram story on Sunday, the woman in question, nemebriella_ said she is still traumatised by the incident.

While narrating all that happened, she said they had come to Nigeria from America and London, UK to attend a friend’s wedding and were having the after-party at the club.

She said efforts to calm the situation proved abortive as the musician kept signalling his officers to shoot.

According to her, the officers kept shooting at other people who were scampering to safety.

She said when she eventually got outside, the officer who had earlier approached her, mocked her and made an attempt to pull out a gun but she was saved by her friends.

@nemabrielle_ condemned efforts by the club management to sweep the matter under the carpet, noting that there is no CCTV footage from the club nor is there any statement to address the issue.

She wrote, “After taking time out to heal and process the events that occurred between my partner, my best friend & her husband and @burnaboygram at @cubanagroup @cubanalagos night club in Victoria Island Lagos

“We were visiting Nigeria from America and London for our childhood friend’s wedding.

“On the 8th of June 2022, @burnaboygram & his friends opened fire at us in @cubanalagos. My partner and his friend were shot, with both needing urgent medical care.

“A bullet grazed my partner’s head and our friend was shot in the thigh, leaving him hospitalised and needing an emergency surgery in NIGERIA.

“Around 3 am, I went to the Cubana club with some of my friends. We were there for a couple of hours celebrating the newly weds, we were about twenty at the club and we were having a nice time in the VIP section.

“We were laughing, drinking and having a good time.

“Burna Boy and his friends came in. We were still there, having fun. As the night progressed, one of Burna Boy’s friends walked to talk to me, his request was for Burna Boy to talk to me.

“On that first attempt, I told him I wasn’t interested in talking to Burna Boy and I am married to my partner. He came again the second time and was met with the same response, he came the third time and that caused a few of our friends to flare up as they asked why he kept coming to disturb me. There were words back and forth and one of Burna Boy’s friends attacked one of our friends, and as they attacked him the situation degenerated into a fight.

“As the first fight started the security at Cubana stepped in and were able to calm the situation, as that happened everybody was slowly going back to their section when two of burna boys friends another fight started and the security at Cubana jumped in again.

“As they were fighting, Burna boy’s friends started shooting after what looked like a signal from Burna boy. At this point the club was in chaos, everyone was screaming and trying to vacate the premises.

“At this point I couldn’t find my partner or My best friend. I was screaming for help after being lifted and thrown so hard on the floor by one of Burna’s friends and I hurt my left shoulder.

“All our private police officers were not allowed into the club, so it was left to us to fight for our lives.

“One of our friends @theflowolf was trying to get Burna boy to calm the situation but he only laughed at him and proceeded to get in his car whilst being protected by his security.

“The shootings happened twice at different times. His friends were also shooting at people trying to evacuate the club through the main entrance. They were out to kill and didn’t care who got hit.

“My partner’s head was bleeding profusely and his friend lost so much blood he needed a donor As soon as he got to the hospital. @burnaboygram left @cubanalagos without a scratch and flew out to Spain the next Morning. @obi_cubana only reached out to us 4 DAYS after the event claiming he had no idea and would do everything to get us justice for attempted murder.

“11 days later, there has been no CCTV footage released by the club OR even a statement to address the incident publicly. Business has carried on as usual for him.

“Even after leaving the club to safety outside, or at least I thought I was safe. The same man that initially approached me on behalf of Burna boy saw me and said ‘oh you’re the one that was doing shakara Abi’, then reached into his bottoms to get something resembling a gun. Luckily at this point, my friends found me and pulled me away just in time. He retracted and got into a car and left.

“To sum things up I’M TRAUMATISED. I’ve broken down everyday since then. The random flashbacks and nightmares. Especially after seeing @burnaboygram response. The lack of remorse or accountability is beyond me. At least 2 people could’ve died that night.”

Man, 42, Arrested With Gun, Other Weapons Inside Catholic Church

There was pandemonium on Sunday at St Ferdinand Catholic Church, Ipaja area of Lagos, following the arrest of a 42-year old man on a Naval cap, who went to the Church armed with a gun and other dangerous weapons during service.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the arrest of the suspect, Ono Macaulay, caused panic in the church as the worshippers suspected that he had come to the church to attack them during the service.

However, the security measures put in place by the Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi, through the synergy between the public and Police saved the situation and the suspect was promptly arrested.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on Sunday morning 12th June, 2022, at the church located at 215 Sector 6th Road, Ipaja area in Alimosho Local Government of Lagos State, when members of the church attended Sunday Mass for the day.
According to the worshippers, the Police intelligence from Ipaja Division led by their DPO, CSP Tokunbo Aboniwonda, arrested the suspect, Macaulay with the gun and recovered other weapons as exhibits in the process.

He had already smuggled the weapons into the church before the eagle eyes of the security on duty in the church suspected and accosted him for routine search, which he initially resisted.

But when he realized that he will not escape, he surrendered and the Police recovered the weapons and immediately arrested him. He was then taken to the station for interrogation over the conduct.

The Police also recovered the Naval cap, which he wore when he was arrested at the church premises as exhibit.

The motive behind his action was not disclosed by the suspect, who claimed that he was a member of the church and had come to the church for Mass with the weapons. But the worshippers disagreed and insisted that he had another motive, which made him to come to the church with the weapons probably to attack the worshippers during the Mass.

During interrogation, the Police also discovered that he was not a Naval personnel and was wearing the cap as cover up to commit crime before he was eventually caught.

Having been found culpable, he was arraigned before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court on Tuesday for unlawful possession of a gun and other dangerous weapons including the Naval cap he wore while not a Naval personnel.

When he was arraigned, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty before Court to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. K.A Ariyo, granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must have landed property within the jurisdiction of the Court.

He was remanded in the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions while the matter was adjourned 10th July, 2022.

Before Macaulay was taken into custody, he had earlier told the Court that his father is from Delta State while his mother is from Lagos Island but he lives at Ipaja area of Lagos, where the incident happened.

He also revealed that the gun, which was found on him was an air gun he uses for hunting animals as his hobby and the other weapons were meant to protect himself because of insecurity in Nigeria. However, he did not explain why he took the items to the church on that day.

Mob Burns Woman To Death Over Blasphemy In Lagos

Information reaching Ibom Focus says that Mob Burns Woman To Death Over Blasphemy In Lagos

A woman, Hannab Saliu a.k.a Shaba, has been lynched and set ablaze by a mob at the Alaba Rago area of Ojo, Lagos State.

According to PM Express, the woman was caught with a Quran and was asked to disclose her religious status.

As she was unable to do so, she was murdered and burnt beyond recognition for blasphemy in Lagos State.

Three of the suspects behind the act, Abubakar Musa, 32, Sarauta Monsur, 31 and Surajo Yusuf, were arrested and charged before the court for the alleged murder by willfully killing the lady.

According to police sources, the suspects were said to have accosted the lady with the Quran and she was asked to identify the religion she belonged to and she was unable to do so.

The suspects and others now at large then mobilised, attack her with sticks and bottles and she fell down due to profuse bleeding before they brought some petrol and set her ablaze.

The matter was reported to the police, who trailed and arrested the suspects and transferred them to the SCID, Yaba, for investigation while others were said to be at large.

After thorough interrogation, the police found them culpable and subsequently charged them before the Ebute Metta Magistrates Court for conspiracy and murder, which attracts life imprisonment if they are tried and found guilty before the Court.

However, when they were arraigned, the court did not take their plea after the prosecutor, Inspector Olatunde Kehinde, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice since the alleged crime was a capital offence punishable by death.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. F.M.Kayode Alamu, ordered their remand in Correctional Centre pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.

The matter was adjourned till 29th June, 2022, for report of the DPP to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.

Recall that the former Accountant-General was arrested on May 16 by the EFCC over alleged diversion and laundering of N80 billion.

The EFCC said verified intelligence reports showed that Idris raked off the funds through bogus consultancies and other illegal activities using proxies, family members and close associates.

The commission said the funds were laundered through real estate investments in Kano and Abuja.

It said Idris was arrested after he failed to honour invitations by the commission to respond to issues connected to the alleged fraudulent acts.

We Swore An Oath Not To Disclose What Happened At Hilton Hotel – Employee Tells Court

One of the workers at Hilton Hotel where a postgraduate student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Timothy Adegoke, was allegedly murdered has said the management of the hotel asked all staff members to delete pictures taken on their phones after the body of the deceased was found.

Magdalena Chiefuna, the hotel employee, said the staff members of the hotel were made to swear an oath not to disclose what happened regarding Adegoke’s death.

She also told the Osun State High Court on Wednesday that no doctor was called and that the police were not notified about the discovery of the body of the deceased.

In her evidence, the second defendant, Chiefuna, said she was on duty on November 6, 2021, and gave evidence of how the body of the deceased was found in Room 305 of the hotel.

Under cross-examination by human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), the witness said that the deceased was found dead on November 7 but that a doctor was not called to attend to him or pronounce him dead.

He also said the death was not reported to the police as they took an oath of confidentiality in order to protect the hotel business.

She also admitted that she and some staff members were summoned to the house of the first defendant, Dr. Ramon Adedoyin (hotel owner), who asked the receptionists to delete the pictures of the accounts captured on their telephones.

Even though the Managing Director of the hotel, Raheem Adedoyin asked them to deny that the deceased lodged in the hotel, she disclosed all that happened to the police when she was arrested on November 12.

Answering another question by Mr. Falana, the witness said she did not know whether the receipt of the money paid for two nights by the deceased had been submitted to the police by the hotel management. The witness said that Dr. Adedoyin did not visit the hotel even though he was informed of the death of the deceased on November 7.

Also, Professor S.O. Ojo, who gave evidence for the defence, was part of the team of 8 pathologists who conducted the autopsy on the body of Adegoke.
He was led in evidence by the counsel for the second defendant, Mr. Kunle Adegoke (SAN). In his evidence-in-chief, Ojo said that he ruled out violence as the cause of death.
But under cross-examination by Mr. Femi Falana SAN, Ojo said that he could not say anatomically if the “deceased died of a natural cause”.
When Mr. Falana SAN drew his attention to the report of Dr. Waheed Oluogun who supervised the exhumation of the body of Adegoke, Ojo said that he could not comment on the report as he did not witness the exhumation.

Mr. Falana then asked him to read the aspect of Dr. Oluogun’s pathology report where he said that the body of Adegoke was wrapped with a blood-stained duvet without exposure to any part of the body and that Adegoke was found in a supine position with two different types of ropes around his ankles and the neck. But Ojo insisted that he was not involved in the exhumation of the body.

The cross-examination of the witness by other defence counsel will continue on Thursday.

Operatives of the Nigerian Police Force on Monday arraigned two suspects, Bilyaminu Aliyu and Aminu Hukunci, in connection with the lynching of Deborah Samuel, who was accused of blasphemy.

Deborah Samuel’s killer in viral video is from Niger Republic; we can’t find him in Sokoto: Police Source

The police in Sokoto have categorised one of the prime suspects in the murder of Deborah Samuel as a foreign intruder from the neighbouring Niger Republic.

Officials said the suspect could not be found in the metropolis despite being captured on camera proclaiming his role in the lynching and burning of the 200-level student of Shehu Shagari College of Education.

“We started looking for him immediately we saw his video on social media because he is fundamental to our investigation,” a top police source told Peoples Gazette on Friday evening. “We are now learning that he is not even a Nigerian but only came in illegally from Niger Republic to cause chaos in our country.”

The official said Interpol might be enlisted to help arrest the suspect, even though many officers still hold that the suspect is a Nigerian and remained within the country’s borders.

“Some officers are saying he is a Nigerian and we need additional time to find him,” our informant said. “We have no facial recognition database, but we are following all available intelligence on the matter.”

A spokesman for the police in Bauchi said he could not immediately provide additional updates about their handling of the crisis. Commissioner Kamaldeen Okunola told The Gazette he was in a strategy meeting and was not in a position to comment on the investigation.

The police have already announced that two suspects are being held over the murder, which continues to grip the country for the third day.

On Saturday, violence broke out across the metropolis after thugs stormed the palace of the Sultan to demand the release of suspects from custody. The main Catholic secretariat in Sokoto was attacked during the rampage.

My Life In Danger, Criminals I Arrested Are Threatening Me In Jail – Abba Kyari Begs Court

Suspended police officer, Abba Kyari says his continued detention in prison has emboldened terrorist groups to continue their incessant attacks unabated.

Peoples Gazette reports that Kyari made the statement through his lawyer, Nureini Jimoh, while praying that the Federal High Court in Abuja review his bail application.

The former Head of Intelligence Response Team cited instances of insecurity such as the Abuja-Kaduna train bombing that could have been averted had he not been in jail.

Kyari, while pleading through his counsel for him to be granted bail, said his life and that of his accomplices were at risk, as they are sharing the Kuje correctional facility with many criminals that they put in jail.

A document submitted in court read partly; “Upon the incarceration of the applicants, criminality in the nation has risen up. The Kaduna train attack, Kaduna-Abuja Road attack as well as Kaduna airport attack was a result of the incarceration of the applicants.

“The entire plan to incarcerate the applicants led to the criminal upsurge and other high level insecurity in the country. Since the incarceration of the applicants, the police have not recorded any level of success on the senseless attack(s) across the country”

He added; “At the centre, the applicants who were Head and deputy head of the Intelligence Response Team of the Nigeria Police Force met stiff resistance, attack and open threats to the lives of the applicants by series head of criminal gang that they had bursted.

“There is no correctional centre that the criminals that have been arrested by the IRT under the headship of the applicant in furtherance of their constitutional and statutory duties as police officers cannot be found and there is a high likelihood of threat to the lives of the applicants”.

Retired Nigerian customs officer chops off 10-Year-old girl’s finger with machete over missing 50 naira

The victim’s mother is calling for justice for her little girl as Ajenifuja had boasted that she would not be punished for the offence.

Aretired customs officer identified as Ajenifuja Kudirat has been accused of cutting off the finger of a 10-year-old girl, Hawau Ibrahim for allegedly stealing N50.

According to a mandated reporter, Ajenifuja had sent Ibrahim on an errand and ordered the young girl to take the money from the top of the refrigerator.

The victim reportedly took N200 from the N250 kept at the spot. However, the remaining N50 got missing.

The retired officer reportedly accused Ibrahim of theft which the little girl denied. She subsequently took her to the room and used a machete to cut off her middle finger to deter her from stealing.

Meanwhile, the missing money was later found, according to Ebenezer Omejalile, the Co-founding officer of the Advocate for Children and Vulnerable People’s Network (ACVPN).

He said the victim’s mother is calling for justice for her little girl as Ajenifuja had boasted that she would not be punished for the offence.

He said, “The perpetrator is Ajenifuja Kudirat, a retired customs officer who resides at the new site in Oko Afo along Lagos-Badagry Road. According to the mandated reporter, this incident occurred about four days ago.

“We reliably gathered that Ajenifuja Kudirat asked the victim to take N200 naira out of the N250 kept on top of the fridge to get a certain drug for her.

“Report has it that the victim is not the only child that lives with this perpetrator, they are two. By the time the victim returned from where Kudirat sent her, she asked her for the missing N50, and the victim told her she didn’t take the money.

“Immediately Ajenifuja Kudirat dragged the 10-year-old girl inside her room, brought out a machete and chopped off one of her fingers.

“The victim’s mother is crying bitterly for justice because the missing N50 was found and the perpetrator, Ajenifuja Kudirat still boasted to the victim’s mother that no police could arrest her. The victim is Hawau Ibrahim, she is 10 years old.”
