Mourinho Pleas To FIFA, Ask The Body To Stop African Players From Representing Other Countries

Jose Mourinho has made a plea to FIFA to stop African players from representing other countries other than that of their origin. The Special One believes once this is done, African countries would start winning the World Cup.

“I want the world to see that Africa is equal with everyone, Africa are not behind with talent. They have talents to win any tournament, except that most of their best players are scattered around the world playing for other countries instead of their homelands”.

” I know I won’t be popular for making this statement, but #FIFA should make things fair by refusing to let players to represent other countries, this will make FIFA tournaments even more competitive not one sided.”

Real Madrid beat Liverpool to lift UCL

Real Madrid players

Spanish giant Real Madrid emerged winner of the UEFA Champions League on Saturday night, beating Liverpool by a lone goal.

Like they did in 2018, Madrid beat Liverpool to the trophy in Stade de France, Paris, winning their 14th European title.

First 45 minutes of the highly competitive game saw both teams go into the first half break with no goal.

Vinicius Junior, however, broke the deadlock for Los Blancos, tapping in a low cross from Fede Valverde in the 59th minute.

Liverpool pushed harder to get an equaliser. But thanks to Thibaut Courtois, who made brilliant saves in the game, blocking Mo Salah and Sadio Mane from scoring at different times in the game.

Liverpool’s revenge mission against Madrid and chase for seventh UCL title could not be accomplished as Madrid put up solid defence until the blast of the whistle.

Nigeria Appoints Jose Peseiro As New Super Eagles Coach

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced José Santos Peseiro as the new Head Coach of the Super Eagles, the country’s senior men’s national team.

The NFF announced the appointment on Sunday, saying his appointment is with immediate effect but subject to the signing of agreed terms between the coach and the football federation.

The NFF said Mr Peseiro, 62, will take charge of the Super Eagles starting with friendlies with Mexico and Ecuador later in May.
It, however, failed to disclose the duration of the Portuguese coach’s appointment.

Mr Peseiro has coached clubs and national teams in four continents— Europe, Asia, Africa and South America.

He has coached at Sporting Lisbon, FC Porto, Panathinaikos, Rapid Bucharest, Sporting Braga, Victoria Gumaraes, Al-Hilal, Al-Wahda, Al-Ahly Cairo, Sharjah FC and Real Madrid (assistant coach during the Galacticos era), and worked as Head Coach of the Saudi Arabian and Venezuelan national teams.

Peseiro is expected to lead out the Super Eagles for the first time against Mexico at the AT & T Stadium in Dallas, Texas on May 28.
From there, the team will fly to New Jersey to face Ecuador at the Red Bull Arena in Harrison on Thursday, June 2.

The NFF also announced that former Nigerian international forward, Finidi George will now be the First Assistant to Peseiro, with Salisu Yusuf to be the Second Assistant as well as Head Coach of the CHAN and U23 National Teams.

Usman Abdallah is the Third Assistant while Eboboritse Uwejamomere will be the Match Analyst and another former Nigeria international, Ike Shorounmu will be the Goalkeepers’ Trainer.

Peseiro succeeds Augustine Eguavoen who failed to qualify the Super Eagles for the 2022 World Cup holding in Qatar.

Samuel Eto’o rejects salary as president

Four times African player of the year, Samuel Eto’o has been praised since assuming office as the President of the Cameroonian football federation.

The legend’s promised not to receive salaries as president was fulfilled as such wages were diverted towards player wellbeing.

As part of his policies to ensure players earn the right amounts for their work, Eto’o has advocated for high wages for players in the Cameroonian women’s football league, the Guineas Super League which kickstarts soon.

According to reports, 100,000frs a month. Whilst the headline sponsor is expected to pay each of them an amount of 50,000frs, Eto’o personally decided to add 50,000frs more to each player’s monthly earnings.

Another initiative made in the best interest of the players by the FECAFOOT president is an instruction he gave out for every club to ensure that, players are duly enrolled on the National Social Insurance Fund, CNPS.

Abramovich to pick Chelsea’s new owners from four final offers

Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich is assessing offers made by the four groups trying to buy the club from him.

The four groups all submitted improved bids on Thursday.

Abramovich, Chelsea’s board, and Raine Group, the American bank handling the sale, is expected to present a preferred bidder to the UK government for approval early next week.

Raine’s input is likely to have an influence on the Chelsea hierarchy’s decision and the UK Guardian reports the highest bid will not necessarily be the successful one.

Abramovich wants Chelsea, who could be sold for as much as £2.75bn, to be in good hands.

The bidders include a consortium led by the co-owner of the LA Dodgers, Todd Boehly, and one by Tom and Laura Ricketts, the owners of the Chicago Cubs.

A consortium fronted by Sir Martin Broughton and Sebastian Coe has received support from Josh Harris and David Blitzer, the owners of the Philadelphia 76ers basketball team.

The fourth bid is led by the Boston Celtics’ co-owner, Steve Pagliuca.

Sources close to the process believe that a preferred bid could emerge after Monday.

Customers Stranded As Russian Hackers Take Over Bet9ja

Popular sports betting website, Bet9ja, has been hacked, shutting out users and leaving customers apprehensive about their investments.

Since Wednesday morning, many customers have been complaining of their inability to access their accounts on the gaming website.

The company in a statement Thursday evening acknowledged the challenge while allaying customers’ fears and assuring the safety of their funds.

“Just like so many market-leading global organisations, Bet9ja recently became a victim of a sophisticated criminal cyber-attack, which is restricting your access to our platform,” the company said in the statement. “We take this matter extremely seriously. Our priority is protecting our customers and you have our assurances that your accounts and all your funds are safe.”

Chairman of KC Gaming Networks Limited, owners of Bet9ja, Kunle Soname, confirmed to Peoples Gazette that the company’s website was under a cyber-attack by a Russian hacking group.

Mr Soname confirmed that the hackers have demanded a staggering amount of money to be paid in bitcoin as ransom. The betting supremo, however, assured that the website would be back online on Friday, March 8.

He also debunked claims that the company absconded to avoid paying large winnings to customers who won recently, stating that all winnings will be paid once services are fully restored.

KC Gaming Networks Limited has escalated the ongoing cyberattack on the Bet9ja website to all the relevant federal authorities.
