In a chilling display of the dark underbelly of Lagos’ criminal underworld, the Lagos State Police Command has apprehended a group of suspected ritualists believed to be responsible for a gruesome series of murders and body part harvesting, with the intention of selling their gruesome wares to various states. The arrests reveal the unsettling reality of a macabre trade that has left a trail of death and devastation in its wake.
Confirming the arrest, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, shed light on the diverse backgrounds of the suspects, who include a female Osun priestess, a community chief, an Ifa priest, an Islamic cleric, and a trado-medical practitioner. The intricate network of individuals from various religious and spiritual backgrounds highlights the disturbing breadth of the ritualistic killings, as different spiritual beliefs and practices seem to have been exploited in the pursuit of financial gain through the illegal harvesting and sale of human body parts.
Hundeyin revealed that the arrest of the alleged ritualists, operating within the city’s limits, was made possible through information from the public. Among the suspects, Ademola Akinlosotu, aged 33, was identified as the leader of the gang and reportedly confessed to initially stealing body parts from graveyards before graduating to more heinous acts of murder and harvesting fresh organs for sale on the black market.
Ademola Akinlosotu, the self-confessed leader of the ritualistic gang, revealed a disturbing escalation in his criminal activities. Akinlosotu explained that his transition from grave-robbing to killing victims was driven by client demands for “fresh” body parts, signaling a growing and chilling market for such items. His confession further exposed a chilling reality of a network of individuals willing to pay for organs harvested from living victims, underscoring the desperate lengths to which these ritualists are willing to go for profit.
”While I and some members of the gang would do the killings,” he would supply the parts to a 52-year-old man, Ahmed Wahab, aka Alfa Bororo, who operated from Badagry in Lagos State and Ogun State, to supply his clients.
“A fresh human head is sold at N45,000 or N50,000 while a dried human head sells between N30,000 and N35,000; heart for N70,000 and hands for N50,000.”
Delving deeper into the depraved world of the alleged ritualists, Akinlosotu revealed that he personally murdered two individuals, including a friend he made contact with on social media.
“Before we killed anyone, the herbalist would be contacted to consult an oracle to determine whether the killing would be successful or would bring trouble.”
Akinlosotu’s harrowing narrative revealed yet another layer of disturbing revelations, where he alleged that a Badagry traditional ruler had placed a hit on his own son due to behavioral issues.
Hundeyin confirmed that the police recovered various human body parts during their investigation, revealing the chilling extent of the group’s macabre activities. The police also indicated that their efforts to apprehend additional suspects are ongoing, with the intent to bring the full weight of the law to bear on all those involved. With the suspects set to face the criminal justice system, Hundeyin emphasized the need for thorough investigations to ensure that the suspects are held accountable for their gruesome crimes.
