Vice President Shettima has maintained that 90% of the beneficiaries of the “subsidy scam” are people in the upper class, adding that if Nigeria did not end the subsidy regime, it will end Nigeria.
He said the new administration envisaged and prepared for a stiff resistance of the subsidy removal as announced by President Bola Tinubu on his inauguration day.
According to Shettima, “In 2022, we spent $10 billion subsidizing the ostentatious lifestyle of the upper class of society because you and I benefit 90% from the oil subsidy.”
