UK Court Sentences Nigerian Husband to Life Imprisonment for Murdering Wife Over Suspected Infidelity

A United Kingdom court has sentenced Abodunde David Olubunmi, a Nigerian national, to life imprisonment for the brutal murder of his wife.

Olubunmi used their son’s skateboard as a weapon, fatally beating his wife during a heated argument at their family home.

Judge Martyn Levett of Ipswich Crown Court has handed down a life sentence with a minimum of 17 years to Olubunmi Abodunde for the brutal murder of his wife, Taiwo Abodunde. In his ruling, Judge Levett described the defendant as “ferocious, ruthless, cold-blooded, callous, and savage” in the attack that involved beating his wife to death with their son’s skateboard.

“The simple fact is that you str@ngled your wife and then b£at her d£ath and used one of the children’s skateboards to b@tter her skull,” the judge said.

During the hearing, it was revealed that the couple had relocated to the United Kingdom from Nigeria in 2022. The couple had three children together and had been experiencing ongoing conflicts over alleged affairs and financial disagreements, which ultimately culminated in the tragic incident.

As the trial unfolded, the court was presented with the gruesome details of the wife’s death. A post-mortem examination revealed that the victim, Taiwo, had been choked until she lost consciousness. Her husband then proceeded to stomp on her, fracturing her ribs, before using their son’s skateboard as a weapon to deliver the final, fatal blows. The force of the impact was so severe that the skateboard itself sustained damage.
