Last week, Reno Omokri, a prominent social media personality, launched a direct challenge at Peter Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State, demanding that Obi or any of his supporters provide evidence of a single school that Obi initiated and completed during his 8-year tenure as governor.
This pointed inquiry has created a buzz in the political sphere and on social media, with many observers now eagerly awaiting Obi’s response to the challenge.
In an attempt to ramp up the pressure on Obi, Reno Omokri further upped the ante by pledging a lucrative reward for any individual who could provide tangible evidence of a school that was both initiated and completed during Obi’s time as Governor of Anambra State.
During a recent press conference in Abuja, Peter Obi addressed the accusations surrounding his alleged lack of educational infrastructure development as Anambra State Governor.
He refuted the claims, stating that those who had made such assertions were unaware of the actual improvements he made to the state’s educational system. Obi went on to highlight that when he took office, the educational landscape was in disarray, with many schools closed and Anambra State ranked as low as 26th in the country. However, after his 8-year tenure, he asserts that Anambra became the top-performing state in education.
“I improved the quality, physical and mental well-being of the people, schools, had the basic things they needed and the people shone like stars and that was my manifesto.
“Building new schools when the old ones are moribund is just like building coastal lines when internal roads are impassable.”
