Nigerian police are investigating the death of Gbolahan Olugbemi, a Deputy Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, whose body was found in his country home in Ogbomoso, Oyo State over the Easter weekend.
According to reports from The Street Journal, the deceased, Gbolahan Olugbemi, was a former ADC to the late governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Alao Akala. He was found dead by hanging in his country home in Ogbomoso over the Easter weekend, and reports indicate that the death may have been a suicide.
According to sources, the deceased had been in Ogbomoso for Easter weekend and was found deceased in his home on Monday.
“He came with his aides and we heard that he discharged them to go and celebrate Easter with their respective families only to hear that he committed suicide yesterday (Monday),” a former aide to late Governor Akala, who had served at the same time with DCP Oyedemi, narrated.
“He was formerly staying with his mother in the same house he built for her around Randa area of Ogbomoso, later he built another house located at Petros Academy Street, Federal Lowcost area and he thereafter moved to the new building. He was unmarried,” another source stated.
The Oyo State Police Command is yet to make any comment on the incident.
