On Road 1 of the Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, two people were injured in a car crash involving a Toyota Camry.
According to reports, the car accident occurred on Road 1 of the Obafemi Awolowo University on Monday evening. The accident occured as a result of excessive speeding. The exact speed of the vehicle is not yet known, but it’s believed to have been a factor in the crash.
The car accident caused not only injuries to the driver and passenger, but also damage to two street light poles on the OAU campus. The exact extent of the injuries and damage is not yet known as at the time of filling this report.
The OAU Students’ Union’s Transport Management Commission, under the leadership of President Abbas Ojo, released a statement confirming that the injured parties have been taken to the school’s health center for immediate medical care. The Commission is working to investigate the cause of the accident and will take appropriate measures to prevent future incidents. The Commission extends its best wishes for a speedy recovery to those who were injured.
The statement read, “At 6:18 pm this evening, the Transport Management Commission (TMC) received distressing news of a car accident involving a Toyota Camry on Road 1 route. The incident, attributed to over speeding, led to injuries sustained by both the driver and a passenger, as well as damage to two street light poles.
“Swift action was taken by the TMC in conjunction with the School security unit , ensuring transportation of the injured parties to the School Health Center for immediate medical attention. Currently, they are undergoing treatment and recuperation at the facility.
“To mitigate further traffic congestion, the affected car was promptly removed from the Road 1 route at 7:35 pm.”
