A raid by the EFCC’s Ilorin Zonal Command on KWASU has resulted in the arrest of 48 students and two other individuals on suspicion of involvement in an internet fraud ring.
The EFCC arrested the suspects on February 21, 2024, following a period of surveillance and intelligence gathering on their suspected involvement in internet fr@ud. The suspects were apprehended at various locations in and around the KWASU campus.
The EFCC raid at KWASU on February 21, 2024 reportedly led to cl@shes between security forces and protesting students, resulting in the deaths of three students. The students were allegedly protesting the EFCC’s actions, which they perceived as excessive and unwarranted.
“Items recovered from the suspects include nine exotic cars, twenty-four (24) laptops and different brands of phones.
“The suspects will soon be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigations,” the statement reads.
