The police have arrested a 40-year-old woman named Akintola Alima for allegedly breaking into a school in Ijegun, Lagos state, and kidnapping three pupils on Monday, March 11. According to reports, the woman entered the school grounds and took the children by force.
According to police sources, the woman, along with other members of her gang, reportedly stormed the school grounds at around 3:30pm and forcibly took away three pupils.
The police were alerted and they engaged the kidnappers in a hot chase.
Akintola Alima was caught and arrested, while the three pre-nursery pupils she had allegedly abducted were rescued from her. Police sources say that she was alone at the time of her arrest, and that her accomplices had managed to escape with an unregistered motorcycle.
The three pre-nursery pupils, Sofiat (4), Isreal (5), and Mustapha (6), have been safely reunited with their families. The police have commended the efforts of the school staff and the quick response of the local community in helping to rescue the children and bring them home. The parents of the children are said to be grateful for the safe return of their children.
Sources have confirmed that the suspect, Akintola Alima, is currently in police custody while an investigation is underway to find and arrest her accomplices. The police have stated that they are committed to bringing those responsible for the abduction to justice and ensuring the safety of the community. The public has been urged to come forward with any information that could help the investigation.
