The University of Ilorin expelled 19 students for engaging in a range of misconduct, including theft, exam malpractice, and other violations of the school’s code of conduct.
According to a statement released by the university’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Kunle Akogun, six of the 19 students who were expelled were in their final year of study. The university has stated that the decision to expel the students was made after careful consideration and review of the evidence presented. The university emphasized its commitment to academic integrity and the importance of maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment.
The university’s press statement revealed that the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Egbewole, SAN, approved the expulsion after the Students’ Disciplinary Committee recommended it at its 220th/221st meeting. The expelled students were in various academic levels, including 100, 200, 300, and 400.
The students who were expelled came from a variety of departments within the university, including Agriculture/Aquaculture and Fisheries, Agriculture/Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, Arts/Linguistics and Nigerian Languages, CIS/Library and Information Science, CIS/Telecommunication Science, Education/Adult and Primary Education Studies, Engineering and Tech/Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Engineering and Tech/Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, and Life Science/Zoology.
