During the virtual symposium organised by Governmend, one of the speakers, Olorunfemi Adeyeye who’s a known social media commentator stated that insecurity hasn’t improved, the media is not just covering most of the incidents due to electioneering activities.
In his words when posed with the question of why it appears like unknown gunmen and insurgents haven’t been wrecking havoc in recent times, and if he feels perhaps they’re busy also with election, he mentioned that North East still battles with insecurity, the unknown gunmen still kill but media no longer interested in giving accurate reports of things happening regarding security, obviously because of election.
“Nothing has really changed about our security architecture, I would only say the media is distracted. People still get attacked, but the mainstream media is indifferent until election is over” Femi Adeyeye stated.
