Suspected Herdsmen Abduct, Slaughter Passenger on Board a State Bus

A Benue Links bus traveling to Otukpo on the Naka road in Gwer West LGA was ambushed by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen at Tyolaha village on Thursday.

According to reports, one passenger was tragically killed, and several others sustained injuries.

This is not the first time such horrific attacks have occurred along the deteriorating road, with marauding herdsmen being responsible for previous incidents.

Tyolaha village has become a hotspot for these relentless attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

There were around 15 herdsmen involved in the attack, overpowering the passengers and easily fleeing the scene without any resistance.

As a result of these ongoing attacks, many residents and farmers have been forced to flee or relocate from this part of the road. Those who remain are calling on the government and security forces for protection.

Anekwe Catherine, the Benue Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident, stating, “This morning, a bus belonging to Benue Links, which was heading to Otukpo, was attacked by unknown gunmen. Three persons, including women, were wounded, and one person sadly lost their life.”
