The Osun State Government failed to hold the Computer-Based Test (CBT) for its teacher’s recruitment exercise on Wednesday, leaving thousands of job seekers stranded across various test centers. According to reports, the applicants had spent hours traveling to the centers, only to be told that the exams would not be held as scheduled. Many expressed frustration and anger, as they had taken time off from work or school to attend the exams.
Despite collecting millions of naira from thousands of applicants for the registration fees, the Osun State Government failed to hold the promised CBT exams. Each applicant had paid N2000 for the chance to take the exams, which they had prepared for. The failure to hold the exams has left many wondering what happened to the money collected from the applicants, and demanding answers from the state government.
In Ilesa and Ede, the first four batches of applicants who were scheduled to write the exams between 8am and 11am were left waiting for hours with no explanation or updates from state officials. Many of the applicants, who had traveled long distances and paid for transportation and accommodation, were left stranded and hungry without any information about the exams. They expressed frustration and anger at the lack of communication from the state government.
“People have got here since as early as 7am. They told us the server is down and is from Osogbo. Are they not aware we are doing exams today? Didn’t we pay so they could make proper logistics available? This shows the disorganisation in the state Ministry of Education and the state government as a whole,” an applicant lamented in Osogbo.
At around 3pm, the state officials began to lock the doors of the CBT centers without holding any exams.
Despite the state government’s promise that the exams would begin on time, the reality on the ground showed a very different story. The failure to hold the exams as scheduled raised serious questions about the state government’s competence and honesty, and left the applicants feeling betrayed and misled.
