Kunle Ayanlowo, drummer for legendary Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde (K1), has shared his experience working with the musician for more than 30 years.
Kunle Ayanlowo, in an exclusive interview, alleged that K1 treated him and other musicians as slaves, seizing their passports upon returning to Nigeria after overseas performances. He also claimed that the musician dictated the musicians’ working and living conditions.
Kunle Ayanlowo claimed that, while he was on his way to a hospital to receive treatment for an ulcer, he ran into K1 who allegedly told him to turn back home. He also claimed that he is still unwell, and has called on the public to hold K1 accountable for his health. These serious allegations raise concerns about the musician’s treatment of those around him.
Kunle Ayanlowo alleged that, despite 32 years of working with K1, he had gained nothing except fear and intimidation. He claimed that the musician’s public persona does not reflect his true character, and that people only see the image that K1 wants to project.
