The Nigeria Military (NM) are very motivated right now. The recent activities of the Nigeria military in North East is the evidence to show how spirited they are. President Buhari appointed Major General Lucky EIrabor the Chief Of Defence Staff (CDS) on January 26, 2021.

The role of the CDS is to formulate and execute policies, programmes that will lead to the highest attainment of National Security and operational competence of the Army, Navy and Air Force.

Since the appointment of Irabor as the CDS, the Boko Haram terrorists have suffered back to back defeats. Many of their strongholds have been destroyed. Their camps, enclaves have been destroyed by the Nigeria troops. Just within three weeks of his appointment, the Timbuktu Triangle (an area the Nigeria troops have find difficult to reclaim for more than a decade) was reclaimed back.

The insurgents suffered defeats in Askira Uba, Bama axis etc. Some of the other camp reclaimed were Kidari, Argude, Takwala, Chowalta and Galdekore, Garin Bello, Kwoche, Lawanti, Alfa Bula Hassan, Alfa Cross.

Aside the fact that many Boko Haram strongholds were attacked and reclaimed by the Nigeria troops, two top Boko Haram leaders of the Shekau faction met their waterloo recently. Abul-Bas and Ibn Habib where on the intelligence watch-list of the NM. But, they are no more after they were killed in by the Nigeria troops.

With the recent result from the Nigeria military, it shows that the new CDS is playing his role well in coordinating the military and working well with the other Military chiefs.
