The Nigeria Football Federation has named Finidi George as the interim head coach of the Super Eagles, Nigeria’s senior men’s national football team.
George is a former Super Eagles player and coach of Enyimba FC of Aba.
Finidi George is a well-respected football player who enjoyed great success during his playing career. He won eight major titles with Ajax in the Netherlands, including the prestigious UEFA Champions League in 1995.
After his time with Ajax, George went on to play for Real Betis in Spain for several years. He also had a brief stint in England before ending his playing career. Throughout his career, George gained valuable experience playing at the highest levels of European football.
Finidi George was a key player for the Nigerian national team in the 1990s, representing the country in two FIFA World Cups. He was an integral part of the team’s success, helping to establish Nigeria as one of Africa’s most competitive teams.
The Nigeria Football Federation announced on X that Finidi George has been appointed as the interim head coach of the Super Eagles. George will be tasked with preparing the team for two important matches against Ghana and Mali in the coming weeks.

The appointment of Finidi George comes just three weeks after Jose Peseiro resigned from his position as the head coach of the Super Eagles.
Finidi was an assistant coach during the two-year reign of Peseiro.
