FG Declares Public Holidays for Good Friday and Easter Monday

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced that Friday, March 29 and Monday, April 1, 2024 will be observed as public holidays to celebrate Good Friday and Easter Monday.

The declaration was made on Wednesday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Aishetu Ndayako, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria. The declaration is in honor of the Christian celebration of Easter, which holds special religious significance for many Nigerians. The Minister noted that beyond its religious significance, Easter also promotes values of love, forgiveness and compassion that are essential for social cohesion and harmony.

The Minister called on Nigerians to demonstrate acts of charity and generosity towards those in need. He noted that these acts of kindness would help improve the living conditions of the less privileged and strengthen the bonds of love and compassion in our communities. The Minister further emphasized that these values are at the heart of the spirit of Easter and are fundamental to building a more prosperous and peaceful Nigeria.
