The movie “Gang of Lagos” with its story line and setting evolving around Lagos politics depicts betrayal, greed, lust for power and vengeance. It has a complex plot which was well enacted by the characters.
From the awe display of the ancestral EYO Masquerade, its symbolic representation portrays the interference of man in the affairs of the gods. Years back, the appearance of the reverend EYO Masquerade is a sacred rite of honor to escort the passage of a departed magnate soul but alas the present day gods (EYO) who traditionally should escort the dead are in human skin and are busy dining and wining in the land of the living.
The struggle for power to become (Eleniyan meaning owners of men) herein referred to as puppet appointed by Olorogun (The godfather). The price paid comes with both “death” and “birth”. The murder of the first Eleniyan to Ninolowo shows the greed of man to wield power and the use of (Eruku meaning touts) herein referred to as “prey” to achieve their lustful desire.
Taking a close review of the characterization of both London and Kazeem, the duo a close ally became sworn adversary out of avidity of the latter as portrayed in the movie.
A notable and repeated scene from the movie is the use and ever presence of preys (Obalola, Ify, Gift, Terrible) and hundreds more to extort, wreak havoc and disturb the peace of Isale Eko. The preys, were once naive and minors of the great mass who were picked up and trained by their puppet masters, while their puppet master’s biological children studies and enjoys the ill-gotten wealth of their supposed hero in a white man’s land.
This movie is an eye opener to the politics of Lagos State from godfathers to the rampant presence of preys spread around Lagos sponsored by puppets.
Is it not worthy of imaginary criticism the similarity of this movie to the present day Lagos self-claimed protagonist herein referred to as “marionette”? The marionette who are imagined descendants of Lagos, who holds positions as Chairpersons, Musicians, and Actors etc. The marionette whose entirety of children most likely resides overseas, and might have forgotten their native language and what their motherland looks like, is busy recruiting innocent preys as an agent of unlawful act to his benefit.
In a recent event that took place in Lagos State it was heard and in record of a marionette who made a loosed statement that could jeopardize the peace of Lagosians. Which in reality did. How? Unleashing the preys on the voters.
The daily administration of Lagos lies on the preys who are sponsored by the marionettes and who in turn are controlled by the godfathers who are without doubt the human in gods form (EYO).
The said misrepresentation of “Gang of Lagos” by many is a baseless fact rather it is a quorum of pained marionette who wouldn’t want their dirty linen washed publicly. Therefore “the said misrepresentation by many” negates public opinion based on review.
My recommendation to this would be an abolishment to godfathers and the political use of preys against law abiding citizens.
