Breaking News: Sowore Treason Case Dropped by Tinubu Government

In a surprising turn of events, the Nigerian government has decided to drop the case against activist and #RevolutionNow convener, Omoyele Sowore. Sowore had been facing charges of treason and sedition, which the government has now chosen to dismiss.

A notice filed by the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday indicates that the Federal Government of Nigeria will be dropping its case against Omoyele Sowore. The notice, which was signed by the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, stated that the complainant will no longer pursue the charges against Sowore. This decision comes as a surprise to many, as Sowore had been facing serious charges, including treason and sedition.

The notice reads, “By virtue of the power conferred on me under Section 174 (1) (c) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, Section 107 (1) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015 and all other powers enabling me in that behalf, I Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi, SAN intend to discontinue Charge No: FHC/ABJ/CR/235/2019.”
