I was just ‘catching cruise’, says lady in ‘sleeping with dog’ viral video

The lady who made a viral TikTok video claiming she slept with a dog for N1.7million has said she was merely “catching cruise,” a slang for joking.

The slim, light skinned woman with TikTok user ID @Veegodess has been trending on social media after saying there was no big deal about bestiality.

She claimed that video, that contrary to what people think about sleeping with a dog, she had never contracted any disease.

“What is the big deal there? I only slept with a dog, I didn’t kill somebody. You, in your life, you have done worse and besides, have you seen N1.7million before?

“As if it’s a big deal. And mind you I’m not infected or anything. Stop dying on the matter, I’m enjoying the money,” she stated in the first video.

But following backlash from Nigerians who condemned her for the act, the lady recanted.

I spend N10m every day to take care of my ‘children’, Okorocha reveals

In the early hours of today, the former governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha, was granted an interview by BBC News Pidgin about the forthcoming presidential election.

When the interviewer asked why the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) pressed charges against him the day he declared his presidential ambition, he explained the reasons saying, “the fact that they charged me the day I declared my intention should mean something to you. The money they charged me is nothing because I spend ten (10) million naira everyday to take care of my children and that’s roughly four hundred million naira (N400m) in a month.”

Rochas Okorocha explained that his children are the poor people in his state who he looks after. He said, “when I was a governor, I engaged the youths and made sure poverty rate was reduced which was why insecurity was not really affecting my administration. Hunger is what makes people think of carrying arms.

African Action Congress Party Declares Express Of Interest, Nomination Forms Free For All Aspirants

The decision was reached during the party’s National Working Committee meeting held on April 24.

With the preparations for the 2023 general elections climbing the crucial stage, the African Action Congress (AAC) has declared free for all positions, the expression of interest and nomination forms for aspirants.
Femi Adeyeye, publicity secretary of the party disclosed this in a statement obtained by SaharaReporters on Thursday.

Adeyeye said the decision was reached during the party’s National Working Committee meeting held on April 24.
“The African Action Congress seizes this medium to announce to members of the party and the general public its resolution reached at its meeting of April 24, 2022, one of which is to declare FREE FOR ALL POSITIONS, the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms.
“With a maddening inflation rate of 18 percent, unemployment at 33.3 percent, youth unemployment at 53.4 percent, Underemployment at 51 percent, Dollar to Naira exchange rate at 599 Naira to 1 Dollar, hike in electricity and other tariffs, workers’ minimum wage of N30,000 which in reality is barely paid, it is near impossible to find brilliant, financially upright and competent change-seeking Nigerians who would pay exorbitant and illegal fees such as the APC’s and PDP’s, just so as to contest in an election.
“As the (Muhammadu) Buhari regime has priced education, quality healthcare and other social services from the reach of the poor, it is clearer now more than ever, that it has priced participatory democracy so far from the reach of genuine change-seeking but poor people.
“The downward review from the AAC NWC, to the point of declaring FREE for all POSITIONS came after a clinical assessment of the economic woes caused by the unfortunate Buhari regime. We understand that for inclusive democracy to be kept alive in our society, even the poorest among us must not be disenfranchised through the backdoor- the money politics the evil twin, APC and PDP are known for.
“For comprehensive details of the obligatory donations and form processing fees which would be paid at the state level, aspirants should reach out to and the following phone numbers. +234 812 599 9992 +234 816 905 3108.”
AAC also inaugurated a 7-man committee to engage labour centres across the country and beyond, on the ideas and ideals of the party.
“It is also important to bring to the notice of the public that the Working Committee of the party has launched into action a committee of very experienced labour cadres with a term of reference to engage labour centres across the country and beyond, on the ideas and ideals of the party. The 7-person committee was inaugurated on 5th April, 2022 and has started work immediately,” the statement read.
“Also, as an ideological party, charged with the mandate to radically transform Africa, starting from Nigeria, the NWC also found it necessary that the party manifesto is reviewed so that the programs of the party are in perfect tune with the current realities of our people across Africa. It was to this effect that a technical committee was set up on 7th, February 2022 and it has set the ball rolling- to consult far and wide on the programs of the party and present its final draft in due time.
“We urge all Nigerians to seize this opportunity of modern politics fashioned by the AAC, join our party, engage our programs, contest with ideas, mobilize, bond with us as we kick out the behemoth of the APC and PDP and their allies come 2023. We can not continue like this!”

Fire has destroyed the tomb shelter of the late founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, Prophet Temitope Joshua, in the Agodo area of Ikotun, Lagos State.

According to PUNCH, a resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that the fire started around 6.30pm on Wednesday but can’t tell if anybody died in the incident.

He said, “The affected property is on Ajisebiri Street, Agodo. The house started burning around 6.30pm and as I speak with you, fire service officials are trying to put out the fire.

“The compound of the house is big, so nobody can see what they are doing inside. Also, officials putting out the fire didn’t allow anybody inside.”

The Acting Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency, Ibrahim Farinloye, who also confirmed the incident, said the fire had been put out.

He said, “The incident happened at a building belonging to the late pastor. The late pastor usually went there to relax and meditate. Federal fire service officials moved in to put out the fire.”

The Head, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, Margaret Adeseye, said the fire affected the shelter covering the late pastor’s tomb.

She said, “It is confirmed that a section around the tomb of the late pastor TB Joshua caught fire. A shelter was built to cover the tomb because it is an open place, so, it was the shelter that caught fire. But we were able to curtail it and it did not spread beyond where it started from. We have yet to identify the cause of the fire.”

9 Months Later, Investigators Visit Scene Where Policemen Killed Salesgirl During Yoruba Nation Rally

Mukaila Fadeyi, the coroner presiding over the inquest of Jumoke Oyeleke, has paid a visit to the scene where the young lady was shot dead by the police.

Fadeyi, according to a report by Premium Times, visited the area at Ojota, Lagos State, on Monday.

Oyeleke was shot after police fired shots to disperse the protesters during a Yoruba Nation rally on July 3, 2021.

But the police denied responsibility for her death, saying its officers never fired a “single live bullet.”

The then Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, had said Jumoke was abandoned after she was stabbed.

However, a witness statement obtained by SaharaReporters as of September 20, 2021, confirmed that Oyeleke was killed by a stray bullet.

Meanwhile, during the coroner’s visit to the scene on Monday, a witness who had earlier testified, Banjoko Philips, explained how he and a trader carried Oyeleke’s remains from his compound outside to limit the number of people on the premises.

According to him, the deceased, who was at the time a salesgirl, was arranging her wares when the police chased some people inside his compound.

He added that the deceased also ran when she saw the police chasing people into the compound but fell after she was hit by the bullet.

“She was lying chest down. The point of entry (bullet) was under the left arm,” Philips said, describing the posture the deceased was in at the time of her death.

He said he had observed the incident from his apartment’s window.

Phillips informed the coroner that the shooting started immediately after the (former) Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, left the scene.

He also claimed that some of the residents saw some police officers searching the corpse.

“In my opinion, it was the policemen that shot her. It was a stray bullet,” he said.

Another witness, Okebe David, a snacks trader in the area, told the coroner that he and Philips carried the corpse outside the compound because of the crowd.

The 29-year-old said when the shooting started, he and some men jumped the fence into the compound where the deceased was shot.

Earlier at the proceedings in Ogba, a state lawyer, Oluwaseun Akinde, told the corner that the pathologist, Sunday Soyemi, from the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) earlier scheduled for cross-examination was absent.

“He (pathologist) received the information late. He has a defence in LASUTH for his programme,” the lawyer said.

He also told the coroner that the investigating police officer and his lawyer were also absent.

“And today is the day we have all agreed to visit the locus where the deceased died,” Mr Akinde told the coroner. We have informed all the parties meant to be at the locus. We got a call from Barrister Adebesin, (police lawyer), he said he will join us at the locus.”

In his response, the coroner said that “I’m not going to force anybody. At the end of the matter, the court knows what to do.”

Fadeyi fixed May 16, for further hearing of the matter.

20 Suicide Bombers Prepared By Boko Haram, ISWAP To Attack Nigeria During Last Days Of Ramadan – Counter-Insurgency Expert

No fewer than 20 suicide bombers equipped with Improvised Explosives Devices (IEDs) are on the loose during the last 10 days of the Muslim fast, Ramadan, counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad has said.

According to a tweet by the counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, the killing spree during the holy month of Ramadan would afford the terrorists a choice place in paradise.

Makama in a tweet on Saturday that the killer jihadists, jointly operating under the aegis of Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), began the suicidal mission on April 22, 2022, and that it is expected to last for the remaining 10 days of Ramadan.

The joint operation of the terrorists has mapped Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State and Bama Local Government Area of the state as their primary targets, he noted.

“Reliably informed that Boko Haram/ISWAP from Sambisa have prepared about 20 persons with Personnel Borne Improvised Explosives Devices,” Makama wrote.

The insurgents believe that shedding the blood of ‘infidels’ (an infidel is a person accused of disbelief in the central tenets of one’s own religion, such as members of another religion, or the irreligious) during Ramadan increases their rewards — the reason some of them do not fast when going for an attack.

Sadly, the terrorists believe that insurgents or suicide bombers who lost their lives during the killing spree died a martyr.

“As Ramadan is halfway through, the complex attacks during the first half of the month indicate the group’s ideology and belief that heightened attacks during this period attract multiple divine rewards for their action,” Makama tweeted.

He added: “Sources disclosed that ISWAP going for attacks were told to suspend fasting to gather much energy, believing that if they die within the last 10 days, it’s going to be straight to paradise.”

He, therefore, urged the defence headquarters and police authorities that “emphasis must be placed on Damboa, Gaidam, Maiduguri and Bama within these periods.”

Meanwhile, suspected ISWAP bombs have hit two targets in Iware town in the Ardo Kola Local Government Area and Jalingo, both in Taraba State, killing six persons and injuring scores.

SaharaReporters reported earlier today that a loud explosion rocked Gashu’a town, the headquarters of Bade Local Government Area of Yobe State, on Sunday.
Gashu’a is also the home town of the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan.

The incident, which could be the third explosion caused by the terrorists, was said to have occurred at a beer parlour in the Abasha area of the town and at the time Muslims were observing late evening prayers.

Macron Becomes First French President In 20 Years To Win Re-election

Emmanuel Macron has made history after being re-elected for a second term as French president.

He becomes the first president in 20 years to win re-election after defeating his far-right rival, Marine Le Pen, on Sunday.

According to Reuters, cheers of joy erupted as the results appeared on a giant screen at the Champ de Mars park at the foot of the Eiffel tower, where Macron supporters waved French and EU flags. People hugged each other and chanted “Macron”.

Macron will join a small club – only two French presidents before him have managed to secure a second term.

But his margin of victory looks to be tighter than when he first beat Le Pen in 2017, underlining how many French remain unimpressed with him and his domestic record.

APC, PDP Nomination Form Fees Highest Worldwide, Such Outrageous Prices Are Illegal – Falana

Femi Falana, human rights lawyer and senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN), says the payment of “outrageous” nomination fees is illegal and should be cancelled.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had fixed the prices of their nomination and expression of interest forms for presidential hopefuls at N100 million and N40 million, respectively.

The form fees have, however, attracted varied reactions, including criticism.

In a statement on Sunday, Falana said since the national minimum wage is N30,000 per month, the deposit of N100 million or N40 million has excluded millions of workers from contesting presidential elections in Nigeria.

“Ironically, Nigeria houses the second largest population of poor people in the world, but the nomination fees collected from aspirants by APC and PDP are the highest in the world,” the statement reads.

While noting that in Canada, candidates are no longer required to pay a deposit for federal elections, Falana said since the Nigerian constitution is the basic law of the land, any policy inconsistent with it should be struck out.

“Thus, the payment of outrageous nomination fees, which is not one of the conditions for contesting elections under the current democratic dispensation, is illegal and unconstitutional on grounds of inconsistency with the Constitution,” the statement reads.

“In the case of the National Conscience Party & 23 Ors v Independent National Electoral Commission (Suit No FHC/ABJ/CS/ 42/2003), the Plaintiffs challenged the announcement of the defendant to charge as ‘processing fees’ amounts ranging from N500,000 for presidential candidates to N25,000 naira for those seeking election as local government councillors.

“The presiding Judge, the Honourable Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako, agreed with the submissions of the Plaintiffs’ counsel, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, SAN, and said, ‘Going through the constitution and the Electoral Act 2002, I fail to see where INEC was empowered to prescribe and demand such processing fees…. I therefore declare the processing fees charged by the defendant illegal and unconstitutional’.

“It is submitted that if the electoral bodies that are vested with the power to conduct elections are prohibited from collecting meagre nomination fees from candidates, what is the legal basis for collecting billions of naira from aspirants by political parties?”

Falana said while political parties cannot charge outrageous nomination fees, they may be permitted to request nominal fees for administrative expenses.

“The APC and PDP should withdraw the outrageous fees and charge administrative fees of not more than N10,000 per aspirant,” he said.

“Therefore, as political parties are incapable to prescribe conditions for the eligibility of candidates outside the provisions of the Constitution, the nomination fees of N100 million or N40 million pegged by the APC and PDP, respectively, are illegal and unconstitutional as they constitute a flagrant violation of sections 40, 106 and 107 of the Constitution, as well as article 13(1) of the African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights Act.

“The illegal, insensitive and immoral nomination fees should be cancelled without any further delay.”

Traditional Worshippers Protest Open Display Of Alaafin Of Oyo’s Corpse On Internet During Burial

The Traditional Worshippers Association of Nigeria, Oyo State branch has condemned the open display of the corpse of the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, during the Muslim prayer session, saying it was against the tenets of traditional respect for a dead king.

The association disclosed this on Sunday in a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Adefabi Dasola and Secretary, Dr. Fakayode Fayemi Fatunde respectively.

The statement noted that the late monarch never minced words in condemning the open display of any Yoruba Oba remains for any purpose while he was alive.

The traditional worshippers said it was disappointing to see the corpse of a revered monarch being displayed all over the internet.

They added that their protest against the disparaging act was to set the record straight that it was a disrespect for the dead monarch.

The statement read in part, “We send condolences to the children, widows, the Oyo indigenes, Yorùbá land in general and most especially, the Ṣàngó devotees worldwide who have just lost one of them. In fact, Oba Adeyemi was a true devotee of Ṣango and that was why he joined the ancestors on Sango Worship day.

“It is rather disappointing to have seen the corpse of our revered Alaafin being displayed all over the internet, it is saddening and we want this to be on record that we as a body are protesting this act, we do not want our children and grandchildren to question us in the future that we did not act or talk.

“The same disparaging act was witnessed during the burial of the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji and we made our minds known as well. This is a trend that must stop or we will all be contributing towards the total annihilation of our tradition and culture, our Yoruba monarchs and kingmakers should please make efforts at remedying this malady.

“However, we extol the Ṣàngó devotees for being tolerant to allow the Muslims and Christians to do the initial prayers before the final rites commenced, it is a good sign of religious tolerance that we have been advocating.

“We also use the opportunity to enjoin all the Ọba in Yorùbáland to emulate Ọba Lamidi Adeyemi in the promotion of Yorùbá Traditional Religion which is the basis of the crowns on their heads.”

However, the group commended the maturity displayed by Sango worshippers during the burial, noting that it would go into history as worthy of emulation.
