The Borough of Haworth in New Jersey has planned a homecoming celebration for Omoyele Sowore, a prominent Nigerian activist and former political prisoner who was unlawfully detained by the Buhari regime for five years.
Earlier, Sowore has announced his imminent return to the U.S. to see his family after a long separation.
The Nigerian government’s decision to drop the treason charges against Sowore, coupled with the release of his passport, have paved the way for his return to the U.S. after four years of separation from his family.
In an invitation flyer obtained by PurpleWorld, residents and friends of Sowore have been invited to celebrate his return home in a ceremony organized by the Borough of Haworth in New Jersey.
The celebration will take place on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 4:00 pm at the Haworth Borough Hall.
The invitation reads: “The Mayor and Council of Haworth invite you to join us for a homecoming celebration in honor of Omoyele Sowore.
