On March 7, a group of armed bandits invaded two schools in Chikun Local Government Area, Kaduna State, abducting over 100 students and staff members. The attack on Kuriga’s LEA Primary School and Government Secondary School occurred in broad daylight, sending shockwaves throughout the community. This is yet another tragedy in a string of recent kidnappings that have plagued the region.

The attack took place around 7:30 am, just after the morning assembly had ended. The armed men stormed the school, brandishing guns and taking control of the premises. The schoolchildren and staff members were taken by surprise, and the attack was over before anyone could react.

Among the 287 people kidnapped from the two schools, some were secondary school students and staff members.

Today marks two weeks since the harrowing attack at Kuriga’s LEA Primary School and Government Secondary School, and the students and staff members remain in captivity. As the days pass, their families and loved ones are growing increasingly worried and desperate for their safe return.

Despite assurances from President Bola Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani that efforts are being made to secure the release of the hostages, no concrete developments have been made public. The families of the victims are anxiously awaiting any news, while time continues to pass with no sign of resolution
