Muse Peace Foundation, a non-profit making organization saddled with the goal of peace building and promotion of social inclusion of people of all ages, cultures and races, starting from individuals to the global communities organized an electoral peace campaign aimed at promoting peaceful elections and discouraging electoral violence and conflict in the forthcoming Nigerian presidential election.
With the belief that promoting peaceful elections is crucial to building stable and democratic societies, the electoral peace campaign held on the 23rd of February from Oke Fia to Orisunbare Market in Osogbo, the capital city of Osun State with an intent to reach concerned citizens of eligible ages to go out and exercise their franchise peacefully.
This public awareness campaign encompassed a one on one enlightenment session with youths, market men and women and passer-by as they were educated on their rights and responsibilities during the electoral process, the right voting procedures, and the importance of peaceful elections as well as to promote understanding and respect amongst citizens of different religions and tribe and to discourage tribalism and nepotism.
Amidst, political, economic and social tensions, the electoral peace campaign is recognized as a critical act proposed at shunning every form of electoral violence in Nigeria.
