The sudden passing of popular Nollywood actor Jnr Pope has been confirmed. The actor, whose real name was Junior Pope Odonwodo, was well known for his roles in several Nigerian films and TV shows. His unexpected death has left the Nollywood community and his fans in shock and mourning.
According to reports, Jnr Pope was on a boat in Asaba, returning from a movie location when the boat capsized, and he was unable to escape from the wreckage. He was later found and taken to the hospital, but he did not survive. The details of the accident are still under investigation, and the cause of the boat’s capsizing remains unknown.
Two other actors including a makeup artist were said to have drowned with Jnr Pope. The identities of the other two actors are still unknown.
According to Emma Onyemeziem, Chairman of the Delta State chapter of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, the body of Jnr Pope has been taken to the morgue. Mr. Onyemeziem expressed his condolences to the family and friends of Jnr Pope, and the entire Nollywood community.
