Heartbreak in Igando: 5-Year-Old David Dies After Falling from Fence, Traumatizing Lagos Neighborhood

A five-year-old boy, identified only as David, has tragically passed on after falling from a fence in the Igando community of Lagos State.

According to reports, the fatal accident involving young David occurred on Friday, during a playful moment in the community. The child, who was in the company of other children, had decided to join them in their game by climbing the fence in the neighborhood. However, in a heartbreaking turn of events, David fell from the fence, resulting in his death.

After the tragic fall, David’s playmates, who had witnessed the accident, ran to alert a nearby neighbor of the grave situation. The neighbor, in a state of panic, rushed to the scene, finding David unconscious on the ground. In a frantic attempt to save the child’s life, the neighbor transported him to the nearest hospital. Unfortunately, the doctors at the hospital could do little to revive the young boy, and he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident.

He said, “A man reported at Igando Division that at about 5 pm, his son, David aged 5, fell from the fence while playing with other children. He was rushed to General Hospital Igando by a neighbour, where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.

“The scene of the incident was visited by officers of the division while the corpse has been moved to Mainland General Hospital, Yaba, Lagos, for autopsy. An investigation is in progress.”
