Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State made a visit to the afflicted community of Okuoma with a promise that those forced to flee will be able to return home safely.
Flanked by his team of government officials, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori sent a resolute message to the displaced residents of Okuama, pledging that they would not be victimized for events beyond their control.
The plight of Okuama’s displaced residents can be traced back to March 14, 2024, when a devastating clash erupted in the community, claiming the lives of seventeen officers and soldiers from the Nigerian Army. This fatal incident, which sent shockwaves through the country, triggered a mass exodus of the community’s inhabitants, who feared for their safety and wellbeing in the aftermath of the attack. In the face of such tragedy and uncertainty, many Okuama residents were left with no choice but to flee their homes and seek refuge elsewhere.
