Guinness World Records, GWR has disqualified Ghanaian chef Faila Abdul-Razak’s attempt to set a new record.
Faila Abdul-Razak had set out to achieve the record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, but was ultimately unsuccessful.
As part of her record attempt, Faila Abdul-Razak began a 10-day cooking marathon on January 1, 2024, at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale, Ghana.
Faila attempted to break the record of 227 hours and 57 minutes set by Irish chef Alan Fisher, which had previously broken Nigerian chef Hilda Baci’s record of 93 hours and 11 minutes.
However, updating her followers on Monday, Faila’s coordinator, Kafui Dey, announced that “a statement from the Records Management Team cited a violation of the rest break rules, resulting in an unsuccessful attempt”.
Despite the disappointing outcome, Chef Faila expressed her gratitude to her fans and acknowledged their crucial role in her journey. She emphasized that she does not take their support for granted.
