The Take it Back Movement, Ogun State Chapter, has released a statement firmly supporting the students of Ogun State as they protest the rising cost of education. They made it known that they believe education is a fundamental right that must be accessible and affordable for all.
In a press statement released by the movement on Friday, they said The constitution of Nigeria guarantees the right to education for all citizens, and it is the government’s responsibility to uphold this right. They call on the Ogun State government to prioritize education, halt any increases in school fees, and recognize the impact that these hikes have on students from all walks of life. They added that they cannot allow economic hardship to stand in the way of quality education for all.
“We hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits as you courageously stand against the unjust burden of fee hikes imposed on students seeking education, a fundamental right that should never be compromised. The TAKE IT BACK MOVEMENT stands in unwavering solidarity with your cause, recognizing the importance of accessible and affordable education for all in Ogun State.
“Education is the cornerstone of progress, a catalyst for positive change, and the bedrock upon which a just and equitable society is built. Your collective voice, echoing through the halls of academia and resonating in the streets, is a powerful reminder that the pursuit of knowledge should not be hindered by financial barriers.
“The right to education is not a privilege reserved for a selected few; it is a universal entitlement that should be upheld by governments as a sacred responsibility as enshrined in the chapter two of the constitution of federal republic of Nigeria . We join you in urging the Gov. DAPO ABIODUN government to prioritize education, to acknowledge the indispensable role it plays in shaping the future of our nation, and to take immediate action to halt any fee hikes that disproportionately affect students from all walks of life. The APC administration has pushed the nation to economic downtrodden and educational hardship should not be included.
