Seun Kuti granted bail, to remain in Police custody for 48 more hours for investigation to be completed

A magistrate court at Yaba, Lagos has granted musical activist, Seun Anikulapo-Kuti bail in the open court upon his arraignment this afternoon by the police.

At the arraignment, the police prosecution applied to hold the musician for 21 days for investigation, but the magistrate refused the application, pegging them to only 48hours to complete their investigations. This means the police may hold him for a maximum of another 48 hours to conclude their investigations and the musician will be released by Thursday at the maximum, when his bail conditions would have been perfected.

The conditions for Seun Kuti’s bail include:

Two sureties and one Landlord with land within the jurisdiction.
The sureties are to be verified by the police authorities and should have at least three (3) years tax clearance.
