Kaduna Governor Sani: Teacher Abducted With Schoolchildren Died in Kidnappers’ Den

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has disclosed that a teacher who was kidnapped alongside schoolchildren from Government Secondary and Primary Schools, Kuriga 1, did not survive the ordeal.

Earlier on Sunday, the Kaduna State government and the Defence Headquarters announced the release of schoolchildren kidnapped on March 7 from a school in Kaduna. The children were recovered in Zamfara State.

During an interview with Channels Television on Sunday, Governor Sani shared that the schoolchildren were already in Kaduna at the time of the interview, and that they were in good spirits despite their traumatic experience. The governor expressed relief that the children were safe and thanked the security forces for their efforts in securing their release.

However, regarding the teacher, the governor said, “Sadly one person has not returned and that is the teacher. That is the fact of the matter but all the 137 children are safely back.

“We had an unfortunate incident that a teacher couldn’t make it. He had some complications, he was sick. That was the report we got from the military but the rest of the children, all of them are back home safely, they are with us.”
