Governors recommend N408.5 per litre fuel price

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) on Wednesday called for an immediate removal of fuel subsidy.

At the virtual meeting, a committee set up by the NGF also recommended a petrol price of between N408.5 per litre and N380 per litre.

Earlier, while presenting the report of the NGF committee on subsidy on petrol, the Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, who is the chairman of the committee, explained that the current subsidy regime was unsustainable because smugglers and illegal markets in neighbouring African countries were the beneficiaries.

The committee recommended that the removal of subsidies should be immediate to save the nation’s economy.
