Amnesty International Reacts to death of Sylvester Oromoni, a student of Dowen College
who was allegedly physically abused in school

“Amnesty International is concerned about the death of Sylvester Oromoni, a student of Dowen College, Lagos state, who was allegedly physically abused in the school. He died from complications resulting from the abuse.


Amnesty International calls on the Lagos state government to promptly, thoroughly and impartially investigate the death of Sylvester Oromoni and ensure that those found culpable are prosecuted and punished.


Today, 4 Dec 2021, Sylvester Oromoni would have been celebrating his birthday. The Lagos State authorities must investigate the incidents leading to Sylvester’s death and ensure no child goes through what he endured. Schools must be places of safety.” The statement reads.
