There was no sign of any gathering as of 10:30 am on Friday, October 20, at the Lekki Toll Gate, Lagos State, where youths were expected to gather and mark the third anniversary of the #EndSARS protest except for Omoyele Sowore, the Human Rights Activist who showed up to observed the anniversary amidst strong security setup.
On Thursday, fliers were rolled out on social media, stating that a peaceful walk would be held at Lekki Toll Gate on Friday.
However, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, stressed that no gathering or convergence of any kind would be permitted in the vicinity of the tollgate.
Our correspondent, who is currently at the scene, reports that there was no sign of gathering as of 10:30 am today, October 20 except for AAC Presidential Candidate and human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore who showed up at the scene.
Arriving the scene, Sowore demanded to see the area commander and the DPO. One of the police led Sowore to Yemisi Ojo who happens to be the area commander (Not yet confirmed).
Meeting Yemisi Ojo, Sowore made it known that some Nigerians will be coming to observed the 3rd EndSars anniversary Memorial at the scene and he requested that the police should ensure that they do not harass anybody. While the discussing was going on, the Police woman, Yemisi Ojo demanded that Sowore should go off his camera if he wish to continue the discussion and she walked away.
