The TIB movement has condemn the consecutive attacks on one of it leaders in person of Omoyele Sowore. Wednesday’s attack at the Federal high court will be the third time the activist have been attacked since the court restricted his movement. In a statement released by Chidi Nwanyanwu, the media director TIB global, the statement condemns all forms of attack on Omoyele Sowore. It also points out that legal actions will be taken against whosoever is sponsoring such attacks.
The statement reads;
“The Take It Back Movement vehemently condemns the attack of Omoyele Sowore on the 19th of January 2020, by hoodlums sponsored by the federal government of Nigeria, while attending the trial of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of IPOB.
“This would be the 3rd time an attempt would be carried out on Omoyele Sowore’s life, with the evil intent of killing him or seriously causing bodily harm.
“Recall that on two previous occasions, and while attending the trial of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, these same hoodlooms attempted their attack right before security operatives, who were even aiding them in carrying out their devilish mission.
“The fact that all the combined team of security operatives from DSS, Police and Civil Defence would watch and not try to prevent the hoodlums from carrying out their attack, but would shoot teargas at the public executing a citizens arrest on the apprehended hoodlooms calls for concern.
“It is on record that the Nigerian security apparatus watched gleefully as government sponsored knife wielding hoodlums made attempt at Sowore’s life. The security operatives only found their steam when they began opening fire at ordinary citizens and journalists after one of these arm wielding hoodlums were apprehended by ordinary Nigerians. Rather than arresting the armed hoodlums, the security operatives began shooting directly at innocent citizens and journalists, injuring scores including Kunle Wizman Ajayi, a leading member of our movement.
The Take It Back movement therefore wishes to state clearly as follows:
1, The Take It Back Movement is a peaceful and law abiding organisation.
2, We shall no longer tolerate, neither shall we standby and watch a bunch of evil motivated and government sponsored hoodlooms attack our convener Omoyele Sowore, or any member of the Take It Back Movement at anytime and anywhere within the country of Nigeria!
3, Members of the Take IT Back Movement, and in particular our convener Mr Omoyele Sowore will continue to attend every public gathering or event permitted by law, without fear of intimidation from the government or any of its chosen agents.
4, We are putting the world on notice and holding the Government of Nigeria accountable, concerning Omoyele Sowore’s life and safety.
Being fully convinced that there is a grand plan to harm and possibly kill Omoyele Sowore, we hold the Federal Government of Nigeria responsible should any harm come to him within the limits of Abuja city where he has been confined for years now, without adequate security by those who have confined him.
5, Any further attempt by anyone or group of persons acting individually or collectively will be confronted with the full weight of the law. Aside holding the Buhari regime directly responsible, we will also hold the individual to account for his criminal action.”
