AAC Reacts To Cancellation Of NTA’s Manifestos Presentation

The Presidential Campaign Council of the African Action Congress (AAC) has described the cancellation of the manifesto presentation event by the Nigeria Televison Authority (NTA) as pre-election rigging, ridiculous and unacceptable.

The campaign spokesperson, Onyinye-Ghandi Chukwunyere stated this in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja.

He said the party has set in full throttle, all logistics needed for Mr Omoyele Sowore, the Presidential Candidate of the AAC to be in Abuja to present the party’s manifesto before Nigerians until the cancellation.

According to the statement “Our Presidential candidate, Mr Omoyele Sowore has been scheduled to present the party’s manifesto tagged “A People’s Manifesto for Total Liberation” tomorrow, 22nd November, 2022 but the organizers reached out announcing the cancellation of the event for all candidates.

“Nigerians should not be denied the opportunity to interrogate our manifesto because other candidates are ill prepared ,” he said.

“We understand and it is now very clear to Nigerians that other candidates, especially those of the APC, PDP, LP have nothing to offer. The LP does not have a manifesto. Those who have can’t defend what’s written there.

“We have never stopped campaigning since 2019. For us at the AAC, we take the issue of the manifesto very seriously. For us, a Manifesto is not a glossy paper. It is a social contract between the party and the Nigerian people and that’s why we have prepared, before the unfortunate cancellation, all logistics to present before Nigerians and sign the “contract” tomorrow.”

“We think Nigerians deserve an explanation as to why the event was cancelled and an apology extended to our candidate.”

Recall that the NTA had scheduled Tuesday November 22nd for the presentation of manifestos by all Presidential Candidates in Abuja.

But the event was abruptly cancelled by the organiser without any cogent reason.
