While there is no known significance to the day, tweeps across the globe have been marking the unique date, 22/2/2022 which fell on a Tuesday.

The date is a palindrome, meaning it reads the same forward and backwards. It also falls on a Tuesday, which is now referred to as Twosday.

Palindrome enthusiast and Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Portland in Oregon, Aziz Inan in a chat with CNN described the date as a ubiquitous palindrome date because it’s a palindrome when it’s written in the United States format of month, day, year, and the format most other countries follow of day, month, year.

Twitter users have been sharing their thoughts on the unique date too and even celebrating it.

Meteorologist, Laura Tobin tweeted, “The date is February 22, 2022. When you write it, 2/22/22, it’s a palindrome, meaning it reads the same forward and backwards. It also falls on a Tuesday, which is now referred to as Twosday.”

Journalist Tom Warren said, “Happy palindrome and ambigram day 22/02/2022 #Twosday”

NYC Public defender, Eliza Orlins tweeted, “Happy #Twosday! 2.22.22! Hope something amazing happens for all of you on this beautifully palindromic day!”
