Unidentified Man Dies While Watching Match at Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway Bar

A middle-aged man has tragically lost his life while enjoying a football match at a local bar situated along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

PurpleWorld learned that the tragic incident occurred on Thursday, May 16. The identity of the deceased remains unknown, as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding his untimely death.

Known as a regular customer at the establishment, the middle-aged man casually strolled in, found a seat, and began watching a football match like he had done many times before.

As the game progressed, the man appeared to have fallen asleep in his chair. It was only after the match had concluded and fellow customers attempted to rouse him that they discovered he was unresponsive. Despite desperate efforts to revive him, it became apparent that the man had tragically passed away in his sleep.

When contacted, the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident. He made it known that the incident was reported to the Elere Police Division on Wednesday, with details still being investigated.

He said, “The owner of a bar located along Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway reported at Elere Division that at about 6:15 pm on Thursday, one of his male customers in his 50s, whose name and address are yet unknown, came into the open bar to sit and watch television.

“He was later observed to be sleeping on the chair and in an attempt to wake him up, it was discovered that he was lifeless. The scene was visited by detectives of the division, and the deceased was seen lifeless on the chair without any mark of violence.

“The body has been removed to the Mainland General Hospital mortuary, Yaba, Lagos State for autopsy. Efforts to trace his family are in progress.”
