Travellers Stranded As Protesting Students Block Gbongan/Ibadan Expressway

Thousands of travellers and motorists were stranded on Thursday in Osun State when students under the aegis of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) mounted barricades on Gbongan/Ibadan expressway to protest the prolonged strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

The students stormed the Gbongan bridge area in Ayedaade Local Government of Osun State around 12 pm to mount a barricade, halting vehicular movement.

Some motorists took alternative routes to maneuver the barricaded portion of the road.

The protest lasted for about three hours as motorists and passengers plying the road were languishing over the inconveniences.
