Two soldiers were reported to have been killed by unidentified gunmen enforcing the controversial “Sit-At-Home” order in Abia State.
According to Sahara Reporters, the incident occurred at Obikabia Junction, where the gunmen, believed to be enforcing the order, engaged in a firefight with military personnel. The attack has heightened the already fragile security situation in the state and added to the ongoing tensions between IPOB and security forces.
Though these reports are yet to be confirmed by official authorities.
The attack left a devastating mark on the area, with a military patrol vehicle and some shops in the vicinity set ablaze by the hoodlums.
In a video seen by PurpleWorld, a voice says, “This Army man is the only surviving person here. He was the only person that ran away. He was the only person that ran away. Jesus!”
In another chilling video circulating online, the gunmen, clad in war gear and traveling in a convoy of SUVs, launched an intense attack on the security personnel, adding to the already tense situation.
SaharaReporters reached out to Lt. Prince Innocent Omale, the Army spokesperson for 14 Brigade Command in Ohafia, Abia State, who confirmed the att+ck on soldiers enforcing law and order in the area. However, the spokesperson did not divulge further details of the incident.
He said: “We got the information and we are preparing to go there as we speak. I cannot tell you whether anybody was killed or not until we get there and ascertain what happened and how it happened. But our men are moving there right now.”
