The All Progressives Congress presidential campaign committee stated on Wednesday that it would be wrong to characterize the gesture of kindness performed by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shettima, the party’s flagbearer, as bribery.
When Tinubu and Shettima met with people with impairments in Abuja on Tuesday, a two-minute video of them handing crisp naira bills to a physically challenged guy was caught.
Critics and opposition members, including Emeka Obasi, the communications advisor to the Labour Party presidential candidate, and Reno Omokri, a former assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan, called the video footage a flagrant act of corruption.
In response to the drama, Hannatu Musawa, the deputy spokesperson for Tinubu/Shettima PCC, cleared his principle of all wrongdoing on Wednesday.
Musawa cleared the air on the controversy surrounding the matter in a statement titles “Misrepresentation of a harmless video I, Hannatu Musa Musawa, posted of my principals giving alms and charity to a poor and disabled elderly gentleman.”
Musawa was incensed to learn that the opposition had twisted the narrative to portray an act of bribery and corruption, rather than praising Tinubu and Shetima for their charity toward a crippled man in need.
