When someone attends mosque to worship & recites the Quran, pulls his tasbeeh everywhere he goes,. He never fails attending Jumat where you fellowship together, he goes kurukere to Mecca & “kills Ileya,” he’s hailed as a good pious Muslim, an example to others . But when he’s caught commiting crime, killing for ritual or robbery, ,suddenly, he’s no more a Muslim.. That’s interesting.
When a man is robed in cassock, suit, or aladura garment to church regularly, doing praise worship, doing kurukere kurukere to Ori Oke, to pray & fast. He pays his tithe regularly, he’s a superb Christian. But when he rapes, kills, defrauds and gets caught, suddenly he’s no more a Christian. That’s interesting.. Should members now start swearing to affidavit of membership of a church or mosque or sects?
It’s wrong to deny these criminals their professed and practiced religious /faith identity that you hailed and do associate with them, even project them as good examples of your faiths when the joint kurukere kurukere is good
So are you saying that if your GOs, Pastors , Olushos, Chief Imams, Alfas are caught with any crime, you will suddenly turn to say they are not Christians or not Muslims. That’s interesting. Denial after crime committed is wrong. .
You can condemn, feel disappointed, curse them for putting ashes in your mouths and exposing your faith to ridicule. It becomes morally fraudulent to say the criminal is not a Muslim or a Christian. Never say that the criminals in your church or mosque are not Christians or Muslims ab initio. They are but derailed along the line for many reasons.
Many years back, in the 1980s, there was a popular rich celestial church chieftain called “Captain” who built churches, bought musical instruments for many churches and empowered many members according to the testimonies of his mistresses and many members of the CCC. . But the moment he was arrested for murder and later sentenced to death, CCC worldwide surprisingly denied that the notorious guy was their member. Gosh! That’s interesting.
It was the subsequent revelation by the Sunday Concord (RIP) that later showed that CCC lied. Captain was a prominent member and financier of the church, in fact a known face at many church harvest programmes. We should know what that means . .
Back to the Alapata of Ilorin, a town that is panegrically known to be farther to hell but closer to Aljanah (I don’t know what that means in reality) It’s worrisome that no Islamic sect in Ilorin has been courageous enough to claim the ownership of the young criminal Alfa the “Alapata” Butcher of Ilorin despite his video clips associating him with one or more sects. He attends mosque, he attended many Islamic social parties and was even seen playing drums, sang and danced with his fellow sect members.. No doubt the young Alapata truly loves life.
The least expected of any organization, more so, religious organizations, is to have come out with a public statement to claim the ownership of Alapata Ilorin, (but not ownership of his crime) as a member of their sect, denounce or accept his criminal act (as they like). Apologise to the public that he does not represent what they stand for. Warned their members to not seen the young butcher as a role model with a promise to the police who have done a good job so far that they will be ready to help in their investigation to floush out criminals from their sect and in Ilorin. .
Sadly, this has not been done, and it’s not late to do so. Silence is not golden here and denial of his membership will be morally stupid. The young butcher did not commit his crime on behalf of his Islamic group, but his group(s) should as a matter of public / group morality, owe it an obligation to say so.
The story of Ijapa and Yonribo his notorious wife is instructive here
