Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi is on the road to recovery after undergoing surgery to treat a serious abdominal injury.
According to reports by football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Awoniyi was placed in an induced coma following the first stage of the operation, which was conducted on Monday.
Medical staff kept him under close observation throughout Tuesday as part of the post-surgical procedure.
The second stage of the surgery, which involved closing the wound, was successfully completed on Wednesday.
Awoniyi is now awake and responding positively to treatment. The club and fans alike will be hopeful for a smooth and complete recovery for the 26-year-old forward.
