His Eminence Alhaji Dr. Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, President General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and Leader of Muslims in Nigeria, has declared that Ramadan fasting will commence in Nigeria on March 1, 2025.

The announcement follows the sighting of the new moon in various locations across the country, signaling the start of the holy month of Ramadan.

Muslim faithfuls throughout Nigeria will begin observing the month-long fast, with the goal of drawing closer to Allah through prayer, reflection, and acts of charity.

The Sultan of Sokoto expressed his hope that the spiritual practice would be accepted by Almighty Allah and bring blessings upon the Nigerian Muslim community.
