President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially announced the renaming of the University of Maiduguri to Muhammadu Buhari University, in honour of his late predecessor, former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The announcement was made on Wednesday during a special Federal Executive Council (FEC) session dedicated to paying tributes to the late former president.
The session, held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, brought together ministers and top government officials, who gathered to reflect on Buhari’s legacy and service to the nation.
Presidential aide and former Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria, Bayo Onanuga, broke the news via his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, stating:
“Breaking: President Tinubu renames University of Maiduguri as MUHAMMADU Buhari University. President Tinubu announced the honour at the session of tributes of the Federal Executive Council to his late predecessor.”
