Few hours before the commencement of Edo State governorship elections, the Nigeria Police Force arrested two political thugs and recovered firearms in overnight raids across the state.

This was made known by the Force Spokesman, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi in a post on his X handle on Saturday morning. He said the arrest was the police’s efforts to curb electoral violence in the state.

According to ACP Adejobi, the duo was arrested in an overnight raid.

He gave the names of the two as Edwin Obanor, 43-year-old and Audu Tajudeen, a 41-year-old PDP member from Ugbogbo quarters, Igara Akoko, Edo.

The arrest comes hours after the PDP posted a video showing the arrest of some thugs with guns by security operatives in Edo State.

The PDP said the thugs were sent and sponsored by the All Progressives Congress, APC.
