Peter Obi Picks Obasanjo’s ex-Aide As Okupe’s Successor

Balogun Akin Osuntokun, an aide to former president Olusegun Obasanjo, has been named the new director-general of the Peter Obi-Baba Ahmed campaign organisation of the Labour Party.

The appointment came as a result of Doyin Okupe’s departure, who had held the same position until a few days prior.

Part of the statement made available on Tuesday December 27, 2022 by the campaign’s Head of Media Diran Onifade, reads, “Until recently, Osuntokun was the Zonal Coordinator (South). He is a Nigerian political scientist, strategist, researcher, administrator, journalist and writer, with experience in media advocacy, policy research and implementation and political analysis.

“A former Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria, Osuntokun served as Political Adviser to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and as Director of the Presidential campaign of the People’s Democratic Party in 2011.
