The Oyo State government’s Joint Security Force has apprehended 20 individuals suspected of being agitators for the secessionist group, ‘Oodua Nation’, following their alleged invasion of the Oyo State Government premises in Agodi, Ibadan, on Saturday.
According to reports, the apprehended suspects allegedly donned military camouflage and were heavily armed with weapons when they arrived at the Oyo State Government premises in Agodi. Their arsenal included a silver-colored Nissan Urban Caravan bus, which was unregistered and reportedly contained various dangerous items, including cutlasses, pump action rifles, cartridges, and charms. In addition, the bus was also adorned with an Oodua Nation agitation flag, signaling their involvement with the secessionist group.
The suspected secessionists, arriving in buses, reportedly made an attempt to break into the Governor’s Office during the invasion. However, the Oyo State Joint Security Force, vigilant and alert to the situation, successfully thwarted their efforts, preventing them from gaining unauthorized entry into the building.
Confirming the incident, Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Osifeso Adewale, revealed to newsmen that the Commissioner of Police has promptly established a powerful investigative team to probe the circumstances behind the alleged invasion.
