The Ondo State Police Command has declared a 29-year-old man, Olawale Michael Samuel, wanted over alleged involvement in same-sex activities, an allegation which reportedly triggered unrest within his community.
This development is contained in a police notice dated 14 April 2025, issued by the Ondo State Police Command.
According to police records, Olawale Michael Samuel, born 20 January 1996, is a native resident of No. 16, Singer Street, Yaba, Ondo Town, Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State, Nigeria.
Police sources disclosed that Olawale Michael Samuel allegedly fled his residence after members of the community accused him of engaging in homosexual activities. The situation reportedly escalated into a violent confrontation, during which the suspect narrowly escaped being set ablaze by an angry mob.
Following the incident, police authorities said the suspect went into hiding and has since remained at large, prompting the Ondo State Police Command to officially declare him wanted.
The police stated that the matter is being handled by the Ondo State Command, with the declaration issued through the office of the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ayanlade Olushola.
According to the police, efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend the suspect for investigation in connection with the allegations and the circumstances surrounding the breakdown of public order in the community.
The Command urged members of the public with credible information regarding the whereabouts of Olawale Michael Samuel to report to the nearest police station, assuring that all information provided will be treated with strict confidentiality.
The police also cautioned against mob action and emphasized that all allegations must be handled through lawful means, noting that anyone found taking the law into their own hands will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing as of the time of filling this report.
